creative ideas for events and holidays

I'd like to share with you a really good book. If you're a scrapbooker, you're going to enjoy the ideas presented to jump start your creativity when it comes to scrapping the events and holidays in your life.

I don't enjoy the process of scrapping events that are "supposed" to be scrapped as much as I like to scrap the moments of our life. I like to scrap when the whim hits me or a photo speaks to me. So, I browsed through the eBook, not really sure if I would be inspired, and was pleased to see that scrapping all those holiday photos I have are going to be a breeze.

The authors, Sara Winnick {who happens to be a Write.Click.Scrapbook. team member with me} and Margaret Scarbrough, have presented challenges and charmingly creative sample layouts to aid us all in getting our photos off our hard drive and into our scrapbooks.

I chose challenge #7 and its coordinating sketch by Margaret Scarbrough for my first layout. I followed the sketch making just a few minor adjustments. My photo of Zach is a scan, so I printed it a bit smaller due to the quality. I am happy to have this photo of Zach scrapped as I've always loved it. It's in the back yard of my Aunt and Uncle's home in Munich, Germany on Zach's second Easter, but his first Egg Hunt. I was so proud of his blue wool jumper shorts and white shirt with blue piping on the collar. Those knee socks and sandals are something he's not too proud of now. And in true Zach fashion, he hovered while I made this layout so he could read what the Momster was going to write about him.

This photo just happens to be one that has been displayed on the refrigerator of another Aunt since the day she received the photo. He's now 19 and was only 17 months in the photo. That's a long time.

If you'd like to win your very own copy of this eBook, you have until 8pm Tuesday evening {tomorrow} to share with me, in the comments, whether you are an event and holiday scrapper or one that scraps the moments of your life.

Another layout to add to Zach's album, yippee! I think you're going to enjoy this new eBook as much as I am. Here's to getting those events and holiday layouts completed!

  1. I tend to scrap both...but like you, I find that I enjoy scrapping the every day moments more than the holidays and such...which is probably why I have so few of those done!

  2. I love this LO Monika. I've saved it to my inspiration file. I'm on the lookout for beautiful and simple 8.5x11 pages and this is just up my street.

  3. What a sweet layout!
You've inspired me to scrap the old photos of my boys.
I tend to be an event scrapper, but think the every day moments are the ones we will enjoy most in the future.
I wish my parents had taken pictures of the inside of our house when I was young.

  4. Isn't he cute?! I scrap the everyday more than holidays. I try to make mini books for Thanksgiving and Christmas just to get them out of the way so I can scrap what I want! This book looks very interesting. I've been meaning to purchase a couple of books from Ella. I guess this is my "push" to make it happen!

  5. I think I'm more of a favourite photos scrapper - I'm drawn to particular images and want to play with them. I suppose that makes me more of a moments scrapper, since essentially that's what those photos are...

  6. Wonderful layout. Me? I am more of an everyday scrapper. I do scrap events from time to time but I feel like I am re-doing the stories. I have too many stories to tell so I keep putting the events and holidays on hold.

  7. I used to be all about scrapping the holiday and events (and still do that); however, I LOVE to scrapbook the everyday things more. Any ideas on scrapbooking holidays/events differently than I have been would be a great help.

  8. I tend to scrap whatever is inspiring at the moment. I find it more difficult for events, etc. I put pressure on myself to make this awesome layout. Thanks for the chance at this great book.

  13. I used to scrap a lot of event moments but find myself going more for the memory-inspired moments now. Maybe it's because my kids are getting older. Just found your website - LOVE it.
