i remember when

New Gallery inspiration this month from Write.Click.Scrapbook. But, that's no surprise as they are a highly talented and creative bunch of gals. My contribution to the theme I Remember When includes a photo I shot for the {my five senses} mini book. I decided to use it again, as photos of me are rare, and even though it's not a photo that is particularly flattering or outstanding in any way, it fits the remember theme so well.

I used the Studio Calico collection, Countryside, which I was lucky enough to win. I know that I didn't do the gorgeous paper and the fun elements justice at all, but I'm happy with it. The colors are happy, I'm happy that I got to play with something I wouldn't normally purchase for myself and really happy that I scrapped about me. I felt that the birds flying away tied in well with the remember when as well.

Everything except for the baker's twine and the glassine envelope are from Studio Calico. I don't often stick to one manufacturer, but it seemed such a shame to add anything else in when everything was so well thought out and coordinated. The journaling card was made with the B side scraps that remained when I trimmed my 12x12 to 8.50x11 and tucked inside the glassine envelope after it was embellished with the baker's twine and SC die cut.

The banner tag below was made with SC packaging and rub-ons that was pop dotted on top of an SC journaling spot. Frugal me...not going to waste pretty packaging when it can be repurposed.

I have tons more Studio Calico paper, so off I go to create more layouts. Hope you have time to have fun with pretty paper today, too! Oh, and if you leave a comment today telling me the layout, or layouts, from the Gallery which most spoke to you, you'll be entered to win a smorgasbord of scrappy goodies from me. And yes, it might just include some Studio Calico yumminess as well! Entries close at 10pm tonight and will be announced on this blog post. Be sure to leave your e-mail address...if I can't contact you I will have to choose another winner.

  1. I love your layout. Proud of you for scrapping "outside the box". As I'm 47 as well, you have inspired me to do a page about myself. TODAY!

  4. What a great gallery! Love all the softness in your layout. My other favorites are: Grandparents - just love the chevron/zigzags and buttons, perfect embellishments; Playtime - love the trees; and I scrap I remember - love how many photos she fit in, but how uncluttered it is. Thanks to all for the inspiration!

  11. Beautiful LO Monika, the colours are so fresh and pretty! I enjoyed looking at the gallery too; Long Ago by Marcy Penner tugged at my heart strings, it seems my daughter is growing up soooo fast, they just don't stay small very long do they? *sniff*

  12. Donna Jannuzzi's layout with the picture of the her newborn really spoke to me as I have been missing my babies lately. At 2 and 4 they're not quite so small and squishy anymore.

  15. Well, I love your layout of course (it really stands out in the gallery with all the light, bright colors and airy feel)!! I also like Ann Costen's "And I REmember When" layout with all those adorable photos and gorgeous, richly colored papers.
One of these days I will be brave enough to scrap a layout all about me!

  16. I am way behind on my blog reading but I wanted to tell you how much I love this page. Its colors are not my favorites but they work beautifully with your somewhat nostalgic subject and I can so relate about the eyeglasses thing!!!! :) Interestingly I just made two pages about myself too... imperfect photos and all :D
