happy birthday giveaway | write.click.scrapbook.

It's monthly Gallery reveal time at write.click.scrapbook. and as always, you won't want to miss a single layout! And June also marks the month we celebrate another year of sharing our love of simple scrapbooking!

Welcome to the big birthday bash Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from the blog of our delightful and talented leader

if not, begin here so that you can collect letters along the way to spell out a secret message that will earn you an entry in the surprise giveaway!

I don't remember exactly how I found write.click.scrapbook. but I seem to recall it was probably from reading Stacy Julian's blog. I clicked over and made a connection with what w.c.s. was all about and continued to visit each day, as I still do, and soaked in all the goodness presented to me. I joined in challenges presented by the hosts each week and I remember trying to learn how to upload a project inspired by one of the hosts to the Flickr group and not really getting the hang of it. The host that week walked me through it and that she took the time to help clueless little me. That meant a lot.

When I was offered the opportunity to join the team, I truly was surprised and definitely wondered how and why! I mean, who knew Monika Wright? No one. I wasn't published, didn't have a blog and had no design team experience at all. But, thankfully, they saw that I had a desire to create and to be creative in how I document our family's stories. I still pinch myself.

What makes me love write.click.scrapbook. is that there's always a willingness to help. We're a community of women from around the world represented by the United States, Canada, France, Sweden and now even Japan {one of our members and her family just moved to Japan for a few years} that all have a desire to tell our stories in fun, artistic, messy, simple, elaborate ways either by way of paper, digital or hybrid in layouts, cards, altered projects or mini books.

I've even had the pleasure of meeting one of our team members in real life when my Mom and I went to Chicago last year to see Zach graduate from Navy Boot Camp. Here's Alexandra, Oma and me in a mirrored window in downtown Chicago.

And you might already know that Lisa and I are partners with our 52Photos project, we're in our 2nd year!

+++++

This month, each of us was matched up with another team member and I am delighted to have been paired with one of our newest members, whom I find to be talented, crafty and have such a delightful, cheery style: Kathy Martin of Card-Blanc. Here's the layout I chose as inspiration...

...and here's a sneak of what I created with a handful of pretty paper scraps from my scrap drawer, my 2" square punch, a mini shipping tag and some Honeydew baker's twine that perfectly matched my chipboard sentiment. As  I said in my Gallery notes, I played around with adding more embellishments to better emulate what Kathy created, but ended up just clustering my embellishments in the lower right hand corner.

You'll need to visit the Gallery to see the rest of my layout and links to where each design team member got her inspiration.

Your next stop on the write.click.scrapbook. Blog Hop is with the immensely talented and creative

If you're tired of giving gifts just for the sake of giving — a button-down shirt your brother-in-law might not even like, another knick-knack for your mother's curio cabinet, some fruity lotion your best friend will exchange three days after Christmas because she really likes the vanilla scents better — this class is for you. Give a gift this year that truly tells the recipient "our relationship matters to me."

Rebecca Cooper, also a write.click.scrapbook. Design Team member, also happens to be an Ella Publishing e-Book author. She's also authored the book, Real. Life. Scrapbooking.

No time to go page-by-page through your camera’s manual? Never fear! Professional photographer and scrapbooker Rebecca Cooper will show you how to take better everyday pictures in a flash (no pun intended!). With easy-to-follow instructions and tons of images to guide you, you’ll increase your photographic know-how and improve your photography in an afternoon. Composition and lighting tips suitable for photographers of all levels. Technical tips aimed for beginning DSLR or point-and-shoot camera owners.
I know, I know, pretty cool, huh! This e-Book is also part of the Photo Bundle offered by Ella Publishing this weekend only. I already own this book, and here's the link to purchase your own copy:

There are so many delightful items out there to capture your attention, but I hope that you will consider some of the items I've presented to you today. By doing so, you are supporting Moms all across the world...Francine lives in France and Rebecca is currently  living in the Carribean!

I hope to be updating this great roundup with more gift ideas throughout this holiday season.

project life printables | write.click.scrapbook

I adore the idea of capturing and documenting and collecting all the really fabulous memories of our everyday lives. And even though I don't participate in Becky Higgins' Project Life, I designed some journaling cards for the post today at write.click.scrapbook. that will be fun additions to your albums if you're following along with the Project Life phenomenon.

Life Is Good Scrapbook Layout | iloveitallwithmonikawright.com

To show the versatility of these printables for Project Life, I trimmed the 3x4 card even further and added it to this layout of my toothless wonder, Victoria, at her Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt. It was so worth the trip to school on a busy day just to see the joy on her face when she saw me waiting for her on the playground {where the Egg Hunt was to take place}. I used quite a few items that I seem to turn to time and again: metal-rimmed tags, the bracket shaped die cuts, baker's twine from The Twinery and my Instagram photos.

Here's a look at the rest of the cards on the printable over at write.click.scrapbook. There is a 4x6 card for journaling and there's even room for a small photo where the arrow is, a 6x4 card {to be used in one of the tall pockets} to add a photo of your home and two 3x4 cards, one of them is a general purpose card to tell your story and the other is the Life Is Good card I used on my layout.

Print them as many times as you'd like, I hope you enjoy them. If you happen to use them in your own album or make a layout or mini book with them, I'd adore you leaving a link to your photos or blog post in the comments so I can stop in for a visit!

the first

December First.

24 days until Christmas.
Today's plan is to decorate the pine tree out back if the rain stops and the snow doesn't arrive.
Beginning to capture the stories of the season for my December Daily.
First day of the advent calendar.
First day of a new tradition for our advent calendar.
First time in forever that our Christmas tree has not been up and decorated.
But lots of Christmas decorations are already out and the mantles have been adorned.

And the Gallery is up at write.click.scrapbook.

Each month the team members create a scrapbook layout, maybe a mini-album and sometimes even a project, that corresponds to that month's theme. And each month, the new Gallery is revealed on the first.

I'm going to link you up to the past six months' Gallery collections so that you can browse and be inspired. If you're ever at a loss for a page design, or a title or a new way of thinking or even for trying a technique that is out of your comfort zone, write.click.scrapbook. has over 30 witty, caring and insanely talented designers giving you their best shot each month.

Young Me, Now Me :: November 2010

Tumblr-Inspired ::  October 2010

Included with each layout is a materials list of the products used on the project. The designer also offers up some background behind the layout and will occasionally share a Fun Fact about themselves.

If you didn't know this already, I have links to each of the designers' blogs in the sidebar to the right. Follow them {oh, and feel free to follow me, too, if you don't yet...wink, wink}, subscribe to their blogs {or mine...just sayin'} and leave them a comment once in a while {we all love a kind word}.

Did you know that the team members come from all over the United States, Canada, Australia, France {a transplanted West Indies gal}, the Caribbean {a transplanted Canadian} and Sweden? Pretty cool, I think.

Have fun browsing the Gallery and then head back to write.click.scrapbook. later today for the continuation of

march mini madness | write.click.scrapbook. and cocoa daisy

If you know me at all, you know that I did a little happy dance when I found out that an entire month was to be devoted to the topic of mini albums at write.click.scrapbook. Fist bump!

I'm sharing my contribution to march mini madness over on the write.click.scrapbook. blog today using a paper crafting kit by Cocoa Daisy, this week's sponsor. Be sure to stop by to check what Marnie and Francine created using the very same kit!

write.click.scrapbook.

On Father's Day, one of my photos was featured on write.click.scrapbook.. It's a photo I took of one of my favorite flowers, a peony. I was so happy to have caught the rain droplets still on the petals after a light rain. My peonies always seem to droop to the ground after a rain, so I was so very lucky that this one was upright. My other favorite flower is the hydrangea, but those photos are for another day.

Grateful Quote {Proust} with Peony | iloveitallwithmonikawright.com

If you love beautiful photography and inspiring words, you must visit write.click.scrapbook. each Sunday to see what the amazing designers see through their viewfinders!

5 products | write.click.scrapbook. july gallery

Have you ever limited yourself to just 5 products when designing a layout? Or card? That's what the team at write.click.scrapbook. did for this month's Gallery. Hop on over to check out all the amazing interpretations of 5 products in a variety of styles and projects. Galleries are always full of inspiration from each and every designer and so very "PINteresting" as well!

Not that this is technically a layout, but here is my contribution to this month's assignment. My thought, as I began designing was that  it would be a fun piece of art, especially for Summer! So, I went with that. This could easily be transformed into six skinny photos or adding small photos where the tissue paper flowers are if you want to make it into a layout.

My 5 products are:
kraft cardstock
{just 10 for $1 in the I Love It All shop}
washi tape
letter stickers
{used 7 layers of yellow tissue paper and a MS medallion punch secured with a brad}

Still in the process of spray painting a frame so I can display my little piece of homemade art. Once I get it all gussied up, I'll share. Oh, and here's the Gallery so you can see what the other write.click.scrapbook. teammates created.

write.click.scrapbook. | august gallery

Last week, I gave you a sneak peek of my layout for August's write.click.scrapbook. Gallery. Today, the Gallery is live, so I can now share the entire layout. You'll see some goodies from The Twinery, My Mind's Eye and Momenta.

Our theme was 'Tis the Season and I took the Summer route here, although I do have plenty of holiday photos that still need to be scrapped. But when I took this photo, I just knew it was going to be special. I love the colors, the smiles, the hug and the joy I see in their faces.

use your goodies
Here, I combined two stamps and a circle punch along with some Seaweed baker's twine from The Twinery, it's one of the four new colors. See the grey and white chevron strip at the top of the orange polka dot paper {Lime Twist collection from My Mind's Eye}? It had a hole in the middle of the strip, which is used to hang the 6x6 pad in the stores, but I just left the strip there for extra interest and covered up the hole with more paper. Never would have known, would you? I used more baker's twine on the die cut arrow just above the title.

don't be afraid
I'll admit that when I was combining all these patterns and colors and shapes for this layout, I worried if it was going to come together. Well, I ended up loving it. I mean really loving it. It works for me, I guess, because it conveys a playfulness that comes with Summer and two sisters loving on each other like they are in the photo.

do the unexpected
One might expect the title of the page to make a bold statement, but here I used white letter stickers from Momenta. Even though they are the least colorful element on the page, they do make an unexpected impact in their simplicity and the eye is drawn to the word sploosh! as the title. Sploosh happens to be a word Uncle Chad coined and we kinda like it! The bracket border punch I used also helps to draw the eye upward to the title as well.

embrace imperfection
We all know that Instagram photos are not known for their clarity, they do have their imperfections. And I am so very okay with that. If I had run to get my bigger camera instead of using my iPhone, I would have missed this photo. And this photo makes me way too happy to even think about possibly missing the shot.

I mean, really, who can't be drawn in by their happiness?

just do it
Now all you have to do to see the rest of the Gallery is to stop by the write.click.scrabook. blog today and browse around and be inspired by the ridiculously creative talent pool I have the privilege of being a member of. I know I ended that sentence in a preposition, but I'm embracing that imperfection as well today.

P.S. Thank you all for your kind words and warm wishes here on the blog, Facebook and Instagram about my news yesterday. I am humbled.

yes, i said free

You all know Elle's Studio for all of their uber-cute journaling spots and tags. But, did you know that Elle's Studio has also gone digital over at Jessica Sprague?  And, that Elle's Studio is a write.click.scrapbook. sponsor? Such goodness!

Just click on the blinkie below and you will be taken directly to the Elle's Studio blog!

One can never go wrong with free...and did you know that fellow write.click.scrapbook design team member Lisa Dickenson as well as Ali Edwards are among the scrapbook designers participating! You know that this is going to be fun!

project life?

I have been toying with the idea of somehow incorporating the concepts of Project Life into something that would work for me without setting myself for those feelings of being behind. My idea is to document when I want to, not worrying about recording each and every day of our lives, each and every week of our lives. What I do want to include are those words of kidlet wisdom that I soon forget, handwriting samples, drawings, snapshots that might be blurry but that tell a story. You know, our lives. On our schedule.

I have such a stack of papers, bits & pieces, tickets, programs, drawings and such that would fit well into scrapbook albums for the kids, in their school albums or in our family photo album, but somehow they are not there. Instead they are in stacks, kinda organized but not really, ready to be placed in the proper albums and layouts created when there is time to play.

I'm still working on the size issue, not knowing if I'll go 12x12 or 8.50 x 11, but do know that I plan on using what I have in my stash for the embellishments. Having said that, I did purchase some 4x6 and 3x4 Project Life cards from Amazon because I'm a sucker for grids and the price was right.

top row | My Mind's Eye stamps and decorative tapes
bottom row | stamps, EK Success punch and washi tape

top row | stamps Today Wasscallop circle, Martha Stewart punch, Studio Calico wood veneer camera
bottom row | washi tape, baker's twine from The Twinery, McGill tag punch

All created in a span of about 20 minutes and keeping it clean and simple which allows me to journal, add a small photo or even embellish a bit more if I so desire. You can find more Project Life inspiration from my teammates on the write.click.scrapbook. blog, too.

Becky Higgins even has Free Stuff she shares with us. Oh, and there are tons of other awesomely awesome printables out there on the web as well. I created some 4x6 and 3x4 Project Life cards for write.click.scrapbook recently but used mine on a layout since I'm not a Project Lifer. Yet. Still thinking, not 100% committed, but leaning toward making it work for The Wright Family.

Your thoughts?

be happy | write.click.scrapbook.

I rarely use sketches, but enjoy them when I do. Did you happen to stop by write.click.scrapbook. on Scrapbook Saturday? I created this layout using the sketch by Diane Payne based on an Amy Coose's layout from her recent blogging week.

the layout

Finally a big enough snow for the girls to build a snowman. So, out we went bundled up and still in our pajamas, for a little fun. They build a snowman. Scout tried to herd the snowball slash snowman. Mommy took photos of  it all.

details

I'm not yet sure how I feel about this layout. There's ALOT of pattern, which I'm somewhat intimidated by when creating layouts...but not mini books for some reason and it confuses me as to what the focus is. My eye wanders. Well, a story has been told and it will remain as is. I had hoped that the addition of the dark gray textured cardstock would help to calm the layout.

The chevron paper strip below is cut from the title strip at the bottom of the cardstock. Don't throw it away...recycle it! And see how bright the strip of decorative tape on the right looks compared to the small swatch on the left? Karen Grunberg, a My Mind's Eye Design Team buddy, shared on the MME blog last week that she places two layers of decorative tape on some items to increase the color impact.

Everything I used is from My Mind's Eye, with the exception of the red washi tape and the yellow doily.

thrifty tip

I learned this thrifty tip from Tina Walker, we're both on the My Mind's Eye Design Team...trim away the chipboard skeleton from the 12x12 chipboard elements sheets when you're finished. One side is already sticky and then just add adhesive to add it to your layout or mini album. Saves on foam dots and works really well for larger pieces like this cardstock element I trimmed from a journaling card.

seeing double

And if I've made a bit of a mess with some pretty paper, I might as well do a layout for each of them, right?

Working on the introduction of a new monthly feature and can't wait to have all the details worked out so I can tell you all bout it!

scrap your summer

Hosting this week at write.click.scrapbook. is the delightful Moon Ko. So far this week she has shared scrapping inspiration for summer and beach photos along with two FREE downloads. I am secretly hoping that she will squeeze some photography tips in as well, she is an amazing photographer in addition to creative scrapbook artist!

Here are the two layouts I contributed for today's post. The first one is a compilation of all the "diving from the diving board on the 4th photos" we have. It's now a tradition and we are still taking photos of him doing the very same thing. This would be a great group of photos to make into a collage, now that I know how to do that. Interested? Go to Big Huge Labs to give it a try. It's FREE!

This second layout is for our two girls. Just looking at these (blurry) photos...taken with our old, slow point-and-shoot camera...makes me laugh. I can still remember how vigorously they were waving those flags on that day. We were afraid that they would hurt each other because they were so into the task!

Ah, look at those sweet little girls and their expressions.

These are pages that I created when I first began scrapping. I would probably do a few things differently today, but I still LOVE that hand-cut layered star on the first layout!

So, go check out what's happening all this week at write.click.scrapbook. And don't forget that  each Thursday is give.away.day.

scrapbook. saturday

I'm over at write.click.scrapbook. today with a free download that I used for a mini book...continuing with the March Mini Madness theme we've had going on all month. But, the journaling spots could easily be used on layouts, Project Life or card making.

You'll want to see what the other write.click.scrapbook.'ers are sharing as well!
