the twinery | psa essentials blog hop

Welcome to I Love It All, I'm Monika Wright. If you are following along with The Twinery | PSA Essentials blog hop, you should have arrived here from Tami Mayberry's blog. If you're a regular reader of I Love It All, you'll want to begin at The Twinery blog and hop along from there.

Be sure to read through to the bottom to find out how to become eligible for awesome prize packs. And don't forget, there will be new designers each day sharing how they've used The Twinery Twine and PSA Essentials stamps in new and inventive ways!

             Monika Wright  { me }

EEEK, don't be scared, it's not Halloween yet but I just couldn't help myself. These holiday designs from PSA Essentials are so fun and cute and kid-friendly! I used the Charcoal baker's twine to sew my spider web, using a needle for plastic needlework canvas, and placed this sweet Mummy image from the Happy Halloween set on top of the hand-sewn web.

I used a glassine envelope to hold my card that was tied off with more baker's twine and a circle punched mummy image. I used my long-reach hole punch to make my holes before sewing the Mandarin baker's twine through.

Since I'll have two kidlets in school this year, I'm going to be putting my PSA self-inking stamper to good use. Let's see 2 kids x 15 kids in each class...yep, lots of stamping and twine tying at our house! I first layered my 3" scalloped circle, then the pencil, which was topped with my stamped sentiment. I punched two holes, using  my Crop-o-Dile on each side of the pencil and tied both Mandarin and Charcoal baker's twine from The Twinery into a knot. I then circle punched out just the friendly witch image and adhered it to the top of my knot, which gives it a dimensional look and feel.

Here you can see the layers and how I then knotted the ends of each strand of baker's twine.

In case my girls aren't going to let me get away with giving pencils, here's a cute way to package those sweet treats. Instead of a plastic sandwich bag, why not use some glassine bags? It adds a touch of mystery.

Wondering what those stamped images inside the bag are? Just top your Reese's peanut butter cup with a stamped image from your favorite PSA Essentials stamp set and you've just added more fun to your goody bags!

Have an adult party you're planning? Wrap your punched scallop shape with some Charcoal baker's twine to mimic a spider web, adhere some pop dots behind your PSA stamped image and your party invite has just been kicked up a notch! The idea of wrapping the scallop-punched shape was shared by Stephanie, one of the Designers for The Twinery blog and I just adore the look.

We love holiday decor at our house and you'll often find our kitchen window adorned with seasonal banners. Punch your banner shapes, add your sentiments, string it all with 3 strands of baker's twine and you are ready to "boo-tify" your neighborhood. The two-color ink selection on each of my designs was accomplished in one quick, easy step, thanks to PSA Essentials' award-winning inks.

See the reflection in the glass? That's because I added images to the front of the banner garland so that it's cute from both inside and outside.

Be sure to hop along to the blog of Anothonette Chavez, where she'll be sharing more inspiration.

three new colors

Thanks so much for all your kind comments about the projects I post on the blog, about how much you adore The Twinery baker's twine that you already own and how obsessed you are about owning more {I know the feeling!}. Winner will be announced this evening at 8pm EST here on the blog and on Facebook. Good luck...I'm keeping my fingers crossed for each and every one of you!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!
Nicole, owner of The Twinery, just let me know that she's upping the giveaway from my sampler pack of three colors to this:

...it's called the Colorful Bunch Sampler Pack and includes all 14 colors, a $25.00 value...head to the end of this post to find out all the ways you can enter to win this awesome giveaway!

At The Twinery today, three new colors are debuting and Denim, Buttercream and Stone {as well as the ELEVEN other colors} are on sale ---> SPOOLS are just $12 each!

And as a Design Team member, I was lucky enough to already have those perfectly luscious colors to create with. I wasn't able to photograph the layout I created, but I'll upload that in just a while. In the meantime, I'll show you what I created with the scraps from my 8.50x11 layout {cut from a 12x12}.

Using the Countryside  collection from Studio Calico, which I won from The Scrap Review, I made some backpack tags for the girls with some vertical badge holders I purchased at WalMart. The letter stickers are from Jenni Bowlin Studio, the pom pom's were made using Blossom, Buttercream and Denim, which worked out well for us...Isabella's backpack is pink and Victoria's is blue, a win|win situation for sure!

Yes, the book marks were made with scraps, too, but this time I used some baker's twine in Stone, one of the new colors from The Twinery, which brings out a different aspect of the very same paper. Add some rub-ons and a label sticker, both from the Studio Calico goodies, add a length of The Twinery twine and another project complete.

I punched out small flower shapes from the bookmarks and backpack tags and embellished the book mark twine strands with the punched shapes. You can see here that I made a knot, added the hole punched flower shape and then made another knot to hold the flower in place. Maybe too girly for the boys, but you could use a star shape or even a chipboard die cut to achieve the same effect.

Would you like your very own sampler pack of the three new colors all 14 colors of bakers' twine available from The Twinery? I have a pack to give away to one of you. Here's how you can earn entries...each one earns you a new chance to win so be sure to leave separate entries!

blog hoppin' with the twinery | and a giveaway

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED! The winner of the Ultimate Sampler Pack is Holly.  Everyone else...be sure to head over to The Twinery to find out if you're the winner of the the Grand Prize...14 full spools of luscious eco-luxe baker's twine.

A warm welcome to all The Twinery blog hoppers today, hope you're having fun and being inspired this morning! You should have arrived here from the blog of the fabulous Deena. Don't forget to stop by The Twinery each day through Friday...there's a new hop each day with new chances to win, too! PLEASE begin at The Twinery...have you seen what the grand prize is? Wowser!

My {younger} husband turned 40 last week and I knew that I wanted to make the big Four-Oh memorable for him. But, what do you get a man that says he doesn't need anything? And on top of that make it cute in a masculine way...you feel my pain, right?
Before I show you the "real" gift though, my husband was to first open the box labeled "$39.95" {it's on the left up there} where rolled up inside was this t-shirt:

He chuckled, rolled his eyes and told me that I was goofy. Totally okay. It's the goofiness in our relationship that keeps our life fun and unexpected. And I think he actually liked the t-shirt, believe it or not. You'll notice on the front of the gift box that I reenforced the over-the-hill, gloom and doom theme of a 40th birthday with a die cut shape cut from black cardstock tied with Charcoal baker's twine. For "FORTY" gift, I used an old map page, which to me meant we have places to go and things to see together in his next FORTY years, embellished with even more Charcoal baker's twine.

Inside that gift, which was a bit more impressive than a t-shirt, I wrapped FORTY $10 bills around a pencil and tied those rolled bills with a length of even more Charcoal Baker's Twine. Into the box they went, after removing the pencil, to be surrounded by their buddies. That little bit of extra work was so worth it to see the rolled eyes from my Sweetie, again, when he opened up the box, pushed aside the tissue paper...and uttered the "you're so goofy" comment. Again. That's okay, I know he loves me.

a special thank you to all my Etsy customers for your patronage, YOU helped me to gift Gordon with this wad of cash!

So, with a little ingenuity and some time, I was able to make these two gift boxes for my husband just a little more special, and manly, with the addition of the Charcoal Baker's Twine, die cuts and letter stickers. Oh, yeah, and my goofiness!

My regular readers might remember this post about 40 Things that I started back at the last part of 2010...actually 40 weeks before his 40th birthday. When I decorated the cover of my small spiral notebook with patterned paper and baker's twine, I had intended to transfer everything over to another mini book.

But, as I thought about it and realized that I had handwritten 40 "something I love about you" notes, I really didn't see a need to recreate. I gave it to Gordon as is, packaged inside a glassine envelope. I might just have seen his eyes get a bit dewy as he went about reading just how loved he is.

Your next stop on this hop is at the blog of Jenni Suchin, where you'll find more inspiration and creativity using the luscious 14 colors of eco-luxe baker's twine from The Twinery.

the twinery | market street stamps blog hop

So glad that you are all with me today, because we're going to have a little packaging fun with the     Loopy Loo Polkas stamp from Market Street Stamps and lots of Caribbean, Maraschino, Peapod, Mandarin, Charcoal, Honeydew and Denim baker's twine from The Twinery

you should arrived here from the blog of the talented
If not, head over to The Twinery blog and begin there

If you don't have any kraft bags in your supply stash, you can find them here. The large bracket shaped die cut is available here

It's beginning to feel a little like Christmas so my mind always goes into overload wondering how I'm going to make all those little treat bags for our Nutty Nut Slippery Melts look cute while trying to stay within a budget. And yes, those are Halloween treat bags and even a Valentine's Day version you see up there all to show you the versatility of this one background stamp.

Wondering where I found the tags and labels that coordinate with my baker's twine from The Twinery so well? Just head over to the blog at The Twinery and in the sideabar, you'll find a link to the tags. I imported them into my word processing software and added text that matched the occasion. You can also use your alpha stamps or your even your own handwriting for a more personal touch.

To get the two tone effect on my stamped kraft bag, I stamped the lower front half of the bag with one color, turned the bag over and stamped the top half of the back side of the bag in another color...in this case green on the front lower half and red on the back upper half. Fold your bag to the front and then fold the ragged edges under to make it nice, neat and festive. I topped it with some patterned paper and embellished with the ever appropriate Peapod and Marschino eco-luxe baker's twine.

And now what you've all been waiting for...

the twinery and the {stamps} of life blog hop

The {Stamps} of Life and The Twinery Design Teams are playing together for this hop!

Whether you're gift wrapping, crafting or tying up baked goods to give to a friend, our baker's twine adds a fresh, yet nostalgic look to any project at hand! Our baker's twine comes in 11 delicious colors and is uniquely twisted against a bright white hue, creating an eye-popping burst of color and a creative embellishment! Our twine has lots of color which lends to a fun, candy-striped look.
We feature high quality, made in the USA, clear stamps and digital stamps/brushes for stampers, card makers and scrapbookers. Feel free to browse our gallery with more than 2500 samples using our stamps, watch our free how-to videos and join our club!
My first project shares a simple, but thoughtful, way to use the awesome monogram2build set from Stamps of Life. I began by removing several pages from a recycled book and tearing them into strips, then took my handy dandy glue stick and glued my strips end to end. After wrapping the long book page strip around my Dollar Tree vase, I strung my stamped sentiment {which had been punched} so that I could add my Pink Sorbet and Peapod baker's twine around the vase several times before tying it off with a cute bow. The wildflower bouquet is courtesy of my youngest daughter, Victoria.

Using the very same wrapping technique with The Twinery baker's twine that I used on my vase project, this time in Maraschino, I chose a different sentiment and framing option from the monogram2build set from Stamps of Life.

I often need to send a note to school with my children and am always scrambling for something appropriate. Search no more...pull out your heavier cardstock and get to stamping. I trimmed my cardstock in no time at all, and stamped in even less time to end up with a simple but effective way to always be prepared.

I placed them in this hinged tin, in case you wanted a quick Teacher Appreciation gift idea, and punched the extra sentiment I had stamped to use as an embellishment.

hinged metal tins can be found here

The true test of a gift, for me, is when it turns out so cute I want to keep it for myself. Yep, I want to keep this one, but lucky for me, I have more hinged tins and even more adorable stamp options to create with. And doesn't that baker's twine from The Twinery add the perfect touch, without being too fussy?

Here's a close up of the stamp set I was so lucky to be able to use today.

I am not an extraordinary stamper, especially with acrylic stamps, so when I say that I strongly urge you to purchase at least one set of Stamps of Life stamps, SOON, that says a lot. They give such a clear, solid impression...not like the acrylic stamps I have used in the past. My, oh, my, these are wonderful.

PRIZE INFORMATION:

As you make your way through the hop make sure you comment on each and every post. There will be 4 prize winners chosen randomly among the blogs:

Today and tomorrow, designers from both The Twinery and SRM Stickers are teaming up to showcase projects using both baker's twine and stickers. That's right, we welcome you to be inspired and {to win} you'll want to begin at The Twinery blog to get a complete list of participants from our team so that you can leave a

The 14th Anniversary of the day I became Mrs. Wright will soon be here. And because I know Gordon  rarely reads my blog, I feel pretty safe in sharing this little wall hanging I made with some Maraschino baker's twine from The Twinery and a simple heartfelt sticker from the Thinking of You set by SRM Stickers.

Using a spare page from a die cut mini album I had on hand, I punched another hole to string my Maraschino baker's twine through that, in addition to helping to attach my craft art to the scrapbook paper backing my rustic frame, is also used to string my small hand cut heart inside the tube. To make it stay on my twine, I added a knot below the heart and a knot above the heart to keep it stationary. I attached the 4 strands of baker's twine with two glue dots to the paper and covered the glue dots with a circle punched piece of red cardstock that matches the heart and the backing to the Love You sticker.

You might want to remember this project come Valentine's Day next year as it would also make a perfectly lovely gift idea for your husband then as well! Or even the kids.

And just for you...a way to share your stash of The Twinery twine with a dear friend. After wrapping my mini spools with a sampling of baker's twine, I wrapped the lid of the tube with one of our newer shades of twine, Shore, and a small section of the yellow scalloped border sticker.

To make the For You tag, just add your sticker to light blue cardstock, circle punch it, and add two small holes to string your baker's twine through holding it in place with two small knots.

Now for your chance to win some baker's twine from The Twinery...

the prize will be 3 full spools | winner's choice of colors ($42 value)

To be eligible to win, you MUST leave a comment on each of the participating designers' blogs from The Twinery. A complete list of designers will be on The Twinery blog each day. Deadline to leave comments is 11:59 pm Sunday, April 29th. Don't forget to leave your e-mail address so we can contact you if you're the winner.

Thanks to SRM Stickers for providing the tubes and sticker collections for me to create with.
