december daily for the kids

This was to have been my third year participating in Ali Edwards’ December Daily memory-keeping project, but other things got in the way. Since my very first in 2008, I have made several mini-albums. My two youngest children have seen me make my albums and journals and are always interested in doing their own projects sitting right beside me.

This year, I’m going to make it even easier for them to play along with Mommy!

I pulled a black chipboard Ethan album by Cosmo Cricket from my stash and separated the pages into two piles. Lucky for me, I’ll have 3 pages for each of the girls’ albums.

Using the Mitten Weather Crafting Pack by Cosmo Cricket, I had plenty of choices. The only extra things I added were a few more binder rings, a small strip of gingham ribbon and used my letter stamps. Ultimately, I embellished 12 mini-album pages with the Mitten Weather kit and there’s plenty of crafty goodness left over.

I’ll show you the back covers now.

For my older daughter, I chose the journaling spots that had space for her to write a short note about the photos she will choose to highlight in her December Daily. For my younger daughter, who is just learning to spell a few words, I used the embellished die cut accents. We’ll let her practice writing her thoughts on a separate piece of cardstock and then adhere it to the album.

When designing the album, I only adhered the border strips at the outer edges, leaving the middle portion of the strip without adhesive so that we could slip the photos under the patterned paper border strips.
