i love fall

Just in the last few days the leaves have really begun turning those gorgeous, rich, deep colors of scarlet, burgundy, goldenrod, and pumpkin. They are not at their peak, but they will be breathtaking this year, I can tell.

Which means the roads will be busy as people all over the Southeast head right by our driveway to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park so they, too, can take a look at the fall colors. And that means it will literally take about 3 minutes to pull out of our driveway instead of the customary 20 seconds. {Edited to add: yesterday for Date Night, it took 5 minutes to pull out of our driveway...doesn't help that we live right off of THE state highway into the Smoky Mountains.}

Speaking of Fall, I've completed a few more pages in my Fall is in the Air mini-album. I am up in the air about a cover design and am throwing a few ideas around. Stay tuned.

This leaf download was free from The Graphics Fairy and I used crayons to color and blend. The photo was taken last weekend and I loved how I captured the sun peeking through the trees. I'm hoping for good things on an issue I am struggling with. Hence the journaling, which I made with the Dymo label maker.

This album has taken on a different viewpoint than my Summer in the Life mini-album. My focus has been more on thoughts and feelings about the season. I still do have quite a few photos, but they aren't just of family. Many of the photos are detail shots and many of them are wide angle shots, capturing the whole surrounding. I have quite a few nature photographs in the album, many of which were not even taken this year. Some are oldies but goodies, but they bring me happiness, so I included them.

Just one of many acorns that are on our driveway and in our yard right now. And I've always liked the quote, "From a tiny acorn a mighty oak will grow." Parenthood is such a gift and it's so powerful to think that from us, these beautiful babies grow into amazing people.

used my Crop-o-Dile to attach label to paper first, then adhered paper back-to-back

Just added a journal spot and some patterned paper that is included in the Fall/Autumn mini. The quote printed on vellum is also included in the kit.

Here is the before photo {not in the album, but just showing you so that you can appreciate just how truly awesome Mr. Wright is}...

...and this is what it looks like inside now. I used kraft paper, a carnival ticket and one of the stamps I got on my last visit to Michael's dollar bin. We ride in this rather old Jeep on our property so that we can go farther than we could go if hiking and to go to Papa's cabins high atop the mountain.

One of the journaling spots in the Fall/Autumn mini-album kit is on the left while the right side awaits a photo I need to take of Zach on his college campus.

Still trying to get a photo of the kids together which I'll place behind the "you are my sunshine" stamp, also from Micheal's. I used pop dots so that I could slide the photo beneath the stamped image. The tag and the felt embellishment are also in the kit.

I used this journaling card to tell of our family's love for potato soup and then I used my Dymo label maker to say, "LOVE MY LE CREUSET".

Photo of buckeyes from last year...{Someone asked and no, buckeyes are not chesnuts. They are actually from a buckeye tree.}...and a story. I've always loved that when Gordon opened up this buckeye, that there were 3 nuts inside and we have 3 children. And the sizes of the nuts are appropriate to the ages of our children.

Picture Victoria drew of a Mama tree and a baby tree. I think I'll try to get Isabella to draw something to include also. Mini tag comes in the kit.

  • I need to make my decision on the cover, and then decide what to use as a back cover, too.
  • I have a few more details and photos that I want to capture.
  • And then I'll be finished with my Fall Is In The Air mini.
I'm finishing way before Fall is over, I know, but we have 2 November babies in this family and I want to concentrate on making them feel treasured and their day special for them. Then, of course, I want to start working on my December Daily.

  3. Love the mini! We love going to the Smokies in the fall-the boys were just asking yesterday when we'd be going back down there! I think that's in the plans for next year. It's one of my favorite places to visit that time of year-so breath-takingly beautiful!
