30 days of lists | the wrap-up

10.30.2014  at 8:00 AM

For this round of 30 lists, I decided to choose a paper for the list I was doing, flipping through the album until I found one that I thought "fit." In retrospect, I shouldn't have done that. It confused me as I tried to remember if I did each day's list and where they were in the journal. Something about a bound journal calls for following along in order, I think. I've followed along page after page in past classes and next class, I'm definitely going in order, says that little OCD voice in my head.

calendar cuties | november 2014

10.27.2014  at 8:00 AM

In the beautiful Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, we are in peak season for the changing of the colors. Because we had so much rain, quite a few leaves have already fallen so it's my feeling that this won't be our best year. I do love the reds of the Maples, but there is much more yellow than red this year. Not that I'm complaining, I'm partial to the Fall season, some years the colors are more spectacular than others.

My oldest baby turns 23 on the 23rd and my youngest baby turns 9 on the 15th. Oh yeah, lots of celebrating and reminiscing and feeling thankful for the blessings of hugs and kisses, love and accomplishments from these outstanding kiddos.

filofax friday | to do list printables

10.24.2014  at 8:00 AM

I've been sharing sneak peeks of the planner downloads I've been working on for this month's Filofax Friday over on Instagram this week

#filofax #kikkik #franklincovey #planner #lists #todo #printables

A few facts about me.
I like lists.
I make lists.
And I'm constantly trying to find a way to keep my lists organized.

Thank goodness for my planner and binders.

And...if any of those statements describes you, you're in the right place!

#homemanagement #filofax #planner #kikkik #franklincovey #halfsize #printable

If you're a planner addict, and happen to use either a Personal or A5 size planner, you'll love these printables. Just download, print and trim and you can list and organize until you can't organize any more. Sounds fun, right?

Printables in Action

Here, I'm using a super cute polka dot half size binder from Target. I have them in all six colors and they do make me smile! I'm using the pink for a blog planner and am still playing around and trying to work out the perfect set-up, if there is such a thing as a perfect set up.

I'm thinking that I'll be designing more printables once I figure out how I want to categorize everything. What are your must have pages for a blog planner?

A5 | Half Size Planner

#planner #filofax #A5 #personal #organizing #lists #kikkik #franklincovey
#thisweek #planner #organizing #blogger #blogplanner #lists

I don't do much in the way of decorating my planner pages, but I do love to add washi tape. Usually , I just add that along the border where the holes are punched but on my half size binder, the holes are so far into the page, the washi tape would have not been centered. And that would have bothered me.

Personal Size Planner

#filofax #kikkik #franklincovey #lists #todo #today #organization #planner

You can see here that adding washi tape to the page edge looks great on the Personal size, though. I do this technique almost every week.

I've used the Staedtler 0.3 Triplus Fineliner to color code my lists, but for everyday listing in my Filofax, I use the .38 Frixion. The .38 is definitely my go to for planning. Somehow, because it has such a fine line, it makes me write smaller...and I do not write small in general.

What's Included

Download your folder, which contains both the A5 and Personal size list printables to use and enjoy, for personal use only of course. Please don't copy, reproduce alter or claim as your own. Thank you.

5 on the 5th | october 2014

10.20.2014  at 8:00 AM

5 on the 5th is a monthly photo project where I document 5 extraordinarily ordinary moments of our everyday life. It's the simple things, I believe, that make our lives lovely and wonderful and beautiful. Not that everything that happens in the course of a day are lovely and wonderful and beautiful, but they are things that make each of our lives unique. And I invite you to play along and capture your own wonderful life!

October

1 | Jack is in the house as a jack 'O lantern.
     By: Isabella Wright

Isabella wanted to photograph our Jack, so I let her. And she wanted to post it to Instagram, so I let her do that as well. He's been with me since Zach was just a wee one, probably 3 or 4. I remember when I bought our jack-o-lantern at KMart, he was a bit expensive and frivolous for a single Mom, but I bought it anyway. I call this purchase a win, both for the value and the wonderful memories I have after all these years of pulling him out of the storage bin each year.

2 | Baby, it's cold outside. It went from Summer to Fall in the blink of an eye and I'm ready for it!

3 | While waiting for Miss Kate at the airport, the girls decided to do their Miss America poses out the sunroof. It's sunny and a glorious 67F!

4 | A game of marbles with the most interesting rules I've ever heard of. Miss Kate is getting snuggles from Tip while Smoky surveys the hullabaloo.

5 | Our after dinner entertainment is a scooter show as presented by Victoria. The Razor has been around since Zach received it as a Christmas gift one year {it was THE gift of the season that year} but I don't think any of the three kids have enjoyed the Razor as much as Victoria has. And she's a little speed demon on this thing, swooshing and weaving like a pro!

on my crafty to do list

10.14.2014  at 8:00 AM

So many good crafts catch my eye and make me pause. And think. And wonder. And think that it would be something I'd like to try myself. Of course I PIN them, but seldom actually find the time to make the crafts. Yeah, I keep telling myself that's going to change, so I had better start listening to that little voice in my head, right?

When I find the time.

On My Crafty To Do List

Really like this one. I have several random canvases I could use, and some packs of Rub Ons {remember these Rub On projects?} that I could use instead of the gold pen. But wait, I think I have a gold paint pen, too.

Oh, and this project is so adorable! I definitely think this one needs to be made assembly line style for the upcoming holiday gift giving season. And goodness knows, I have plenty of pretty paper to make them with!

We have tons of crayons. Tons. TONS. And since I always joke that I think the rocks in our yard make babies while we're sleeping, this one is a Christmas Break must do. We could even try to make place cards with this idea, what do you think?

I've been wanting to make these with the girls for some time, but never get around to it. Maybe we could make mini Christmas ornaments with some twigs, instead of popsicle sticks {even though we have a hefty supply of those, too} and use them for package toppers as well. We'll craft ours with baker's twine from The Twinery.

The girls had a "ball" making a holiday wreath a few years ago, but this one is pretty cute, too.  To help speed up the process, I'm thinking a few of those fun twig balls would be fun to add in as well...one can never have too many holiday wreaths.

The great thing is that all of my craft to do list items are projects that I could easily do with the girls, now that they're older. Here's a sneak peak of a project we made over Fall Break, blog post coming soon!

Care to share what's on your crafty to do list?

using rub-ons in home decor

10.06.2014  at 8:00 AM

Last week, I was on the My Mind's Eye blog {I'm a Design Team member} sharing my take on their Rub On Challenge. I decided to create some darling home decor and now that I've tried it, I just want to go around and add a rub-on to anything and everything in our home.

Using Rub Ons in Home Decor | iloveitallwithmonikawright.com

And why stop at just plates? Because Victoria would notice right away that Isabella had something new, I knew that I had to find a way to spice up something in her room, too. If you have more than one kid, you'll know where I'm going with this.

Sigh, keeping the peace, keeping the peace.

Before beginning your project, I suggest giving your plate or mirror or other object a quick swipe with some window cleaner and allowing it to dry before adhering your rub-ons.

SUPPLIES USED
My Mind's Eye | Jubilee Wild Berry "Hey You" Rub-Ons Item #J81069

TIPS
  • I tested the rub-ons on the back of the plate first, just to see if it would work...and it did! I worked from above as the plates rested on my work table.
  • I had little luck using this same technique on a curved glass vase, but I'm not giving up and will try again. I'll use smaller images, rather than the reallllly long string of hearts I originally tested with.
  • The mirror, for some reason, was harder to do than the plates, which could have been because I was too lazy to pull it off the wall and was adhering the rub-on's at an odd angle while it was still hanging on the wall.
