write now! with amy sorensen | big picture classes

I like to journal, but I'm not very good at it. And then I get caught up in the memories and get a little distracted. Plus, it always seems to me that the story I tell on my layouts is not exactly what I have in mind. It's incomplete. Sure, when I read it, it all makes sense because I know the back story that future generations will not have the knowledge of.

That's why this class by my Write.Click.Scrapbook. teammate Amy Sorensen caught my attention.

THE CLASS

THE TEACHER

When I asked Amy about the class, here's what she shared with me...

My goal with Write Now is to create a space that nurtures your ability to use words well. Like its name suggests, it's a class that debunks the idea that good journaling has to take a long time to write. Instead, we'll focus on techniques that will help you get past the surface ideas and into the good, significant stuff—quickly.

Class begins November 1st, so be sure to head on over to Big Picture Classes and read more about Write Now! right now. Even if you're not the lucky giveaway winner, there's still time to register before class gets underway.

THE GIVEAWAY is now closed

Amy is also giving away a seat in her popular class to one very lucky I Love It All reader. Just answer this question in the comments:

Do you like to handwrite your journaling or format it on the computer?

Oh, and be sure to leave your e-mail address with your comment so that I can contact you if you're the winner, which will be announced here on this blog post on Friday, October 26th at 8pm EST. Good Luck!

The lucky winner is:

  1. This sounds really interesting! :) I always write by hand - it takes too much time to fiddle with the 'puter. ;)

    My mailaddress is malin(at)rimby(dot)nu :)

  2. I kind of alternate, as I'm a paper scrapper and a digi scrapper. For my paper pages, I almost always handwrite my journaling. I even had a font made of my handwriting, so that my digi pages can have my handwriting too! :) Thanks for the opportunity for the giveaway!

  3. I struggle with my journaling-I seem to be fine with telling a story on my blog or on Facebook but when it comes time to work on a layout-poof-my creativity is gone. :/
I tend to hand write my journaling- my grandparents are all passed away and I have very little cards/notes from them with their handwriting (I treasure those that I do). I feel like my grandchild will feel the same way some day (I hope!).

  4. I tend to use both forms depending on how much I need to say on what size space. I prefer handwritten so that future generations can see what my writing looked like even though I don't really like my handwriting.

  5. I think both have their place but I do like to use my handwriting on a page as I feel it is a piece of me on the page forever. scrappyknittylady at gmail dot com

  6. I´d like handwriting on the pages. I think it´s more memory when you read it later

  7. This sounds like a great class... journaling is definitely not my strongest and I do both on my pages, handwrite and print it, depends on the look of the page and the length of the journaling. Thanks for the chance!

  10. I do both. I like to hand write because it is quick. But I seem to favor the computer because I tend to be too wordy, and with the computer I can both get more words in less space, and also edit down what I said to improve it.
I'd love to take this class - thank you for the chance!

  11. I do some of both but I really like that my future family will see my handwriting if I hand journal. So I do more of that - and formatting on the computer takes me way longer anyway! And a great tip that I finally figured out was to do the journalling first and then design/fit the LO around it. When I used to do it the other way, I was always squishing it in at the end and upsetting everything.

I would love to be in Amy's class - thank you so much for the giveaway!

  12. It really depends on the layout. Vacation ones tend to have lots of info so then I type it out on the computer. Otherwise, I handwrite it. Thanks for the chance to win a spot in Amy's class :)

  13. Every so often I will handwrite my journaling, but for the most part I am a font junkie. I have almost 1200 fonts, and I almost always use the computer.

  14. I prefer to handwrite as I know how meaningful it is for the future. I have my Great Grandmother's Recipe Book, her handwriting is not pretty but it is hers and it is unique and that is so special to have. I always prefer handwriting from other people so I try to remind myself of that all the time.

  15. Most definitely handwrite my journaling, I have notes that I have saved from my mother when I was a child and I want my children to be able to have the same thing. I think the fact that you took the time to write out something has more meaning to it then typed out from a computer.

  16. I like to do my journaling in my own cursive handwriting :) Thanks for such and awesome giveaway.

  17. I like to journal in my handwriting. Something about computers does not seem permanent enough.

  18. Great post! I like to both write journaling with my own handwriting, use a printer, but I also sometimes use my actual typewriter <3

  19. Pretty much by hand. I like to read blogs, etc on the computer, but not too good about writing on it or accessing it later.

  20. I hope I am not to late to enter! This sounds like something I have been wanting for a long time! I like to journal by hand but I am not opposed to using a computer.

  21. I have tried several times to journal on the computer, because I type faster (and nicer ;)) than I write by hand. But somehow I can't seem to stick with it. So I go back and forth.

  22. Even though the computer is obviously neater I like to journal by hand. I just need to work on writing more and not worry if its perfect looking
